A body fat calculator estimates how much of your total body weight is fat. Unlike body weight alone, body-fat percentage gives additional context about body composition. This DigiSadhan tool is designed for quick home use and progress tracking. It uses circumference-based equations inspired by the U.S. Navy method and can also show a BMI-based estimate for comparison.
Body fat percentage (BF%) is the proportion of your total body weight that is estimated to be fat tissue. For example, if a person weighs 80 kg and the estimate is 20% body fat, the calculated fat mass is about 16 kg and the remaining 64 kg is lean body mass. Lean body mass is not simply muscle; it includes water, organs, bone and other non-fat tissues.

For men, the equation uses waist, neck and height. For women, it uses waist, hip, neck and height. This is an estimation technique, not a direct measurement of fat tissue.

However, BMI does not directly measure body fat and can be misleading for very muscular people, some athletes and other individuals whose body composition differs from population averages.
No home calculator should be treated as a laboratory instrument. Circumference and BMI methods use different inputs and assumptions, so disagreement is expected. Tape placement, posture, hydration, recent exercise, food intake and normal measurement variation can all affect a result. The most useful approach for many people is to use one consistent method, measure under similar conditions and focus on the trend over time rather than a single decimal place.
Reference ranges vary by organization, age, sex and purpose. The calculator includes a simple category display to make the result easier to interpret, but it should not be treated as a universal medical threshold. ACE material commonly cited by Calculator.net lists essential fat, athlete, fitness, average and obesity categories with different ranges for men and women. Very low body fat can also be associated with health concerns, so “lower” is not automatically “better.”
Body fat percentage becomes more useful when converted into kilograms or pounds. If weight is 75 kg and body fat is 20%, fat mass is 15 kg and estimated lean body mass is 60 kg. These numbers are estimates derived from the same body-fat percentage, not separate measurements. Changes in hydration and other tissues can affect body weight, so do not assume every kilogram lost is body fat.
The optional target tool uses a common body-composition planning equation: if estimated lean body mass remains constant, target weight can be approximated by dividing lean body mass by one minus the target body-fat fraction.
Lean Body Mass ÷ (1 − Target BF% ÷ 100)This is a mathematical projection, not a recommendation that you should reach a particular body-fat percentage. A realistic target depends on health, age, training status, nutrition, recovery and individual circumstances.
Use the same tape, landmarks, posture and time of day whenever possible. Do not deliberately suck in your stomach or compress soft tissue. Take two readings at each site and repeat if they differ noticeably. Recording the date, body weight and measurements in a simple log can make trends easier to see. If the measurement process is difficult, a trained professional can help standardize it.

Fitness is broader than a percentage. Strength, cardiovascular fitness, mobility, sleep, nutrition, blood pressure, metabolic health and quality of life all matter. Body-fat estimates can be useful for tracking one dimension of change, especially when combined with waist measurement, training performance and how you feel. Avoid chasing a number at the expense of adequate nutrition, recovery or sustainable habits.

Results appear in a visual animated ring, while the detailed metrics remain readable on small screens. The calculator performs locally in the browser, so the basic calculation does not require an account or a server request.
Body-composition testing methods differ. Circumference equations are practical because a measuring tape is inexpensive and accessible, but they are still predictive equations. More specialized techniques such as DEXA, hydrostatic weighing and other validated body-composition assessments can produce different results. Even those methods have their own assumptions and measurement error. For home tracking, consistency is often more valuable than false precision.
Start with the result as a baseline. Repeat the measurement under similar conditions after a reasonable interval rather than checking many times each day. Look for a sustained trend in body weight, waist measurement, training performance and estimated body fat. If the result is unexpected or concerning, do not attempt extreme dieting or exercise solely because of a calculator output—seek professional guidance.
